Bangalore, Apr 22: Thomson Financial, a unit of Thomson Corp., expects to have 1,500 employees on its rolls by mid-2005, David H. Shaffer, chief executive officer, told reporters here Thursday. Thomson Financial currently has 875 employees in Bangalore. Shaffer said the Indian team is engaged in software product development, data analysis and production of Thomson's proprietary financial databases, including Thomson First call and Thomson Worldscope.
He was speaking to reporters after opening a new 550-seat facility in Bangalore. "Our new facility gives us the capacity we need to grow a range of business functions," Shaffer said. He did not offer any investment details. Thomson Financial is a $1.5 billion provider of information and technology solutions to the financial community worldwide.
