While Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat adjourned the
Rajya Sabha within minutes after it assembled this morning,
Speaker Manohar Joshi called it a day shortly ahead of the
lunch recess.
Before adjourning the House, Joshi, however, said members would have to compensate for the time lost because of today's decision which was approved by the business advisory committee yesterday.
Shekhawat, after hearing Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee's request in this regard which was supported by leader of the House Jaswant Singh, in a lighter vein said he would like to know views of new members.
"What do you think Hema Maliniji? Should the House be adjourned for the purpose," Shekhawat asked the film star who said "karna chahiya (we should do it)".
Following this, Shekhawat adjourned the House till tomorrow. Bureau Report
