Hyderabad, Oct 28: India's main hope for an Olympic medal, Anjali Bhagwat today said she will fine-tune her skills in the 3-position event, her second event at 2004 Athens games. Anjali, who will concentrate to win a medal in women's 10m air rifle at Athens told reporters that she will skip her pet event in the Asian shooting championships to be held at Kuala Lumpur next year.
"I am not going to compete in air rifle event in the Asian Championship in Kuala Lumpur and instead will concentrate on 3-position event, since I will be competing in this event at Athens, too," she said.
The 34-year-old said she would travel to Mhow, where army shooters are training under Kazakh Stanis Kapidus, who is on one year contract with the services.
Anjali said Kapidus has promised to help on technical aspects of the 3-position shooting in a scientific manner.
The star shooter, who won the air rifle gold at the world cup final in Milan, Italy, earlier this month recording a score of 502.4 points to add to her World Cup gold at Fort Benning in USA in may this year also said India may grab a few more quota places in the coming Asian championships.
"Deepali (Deshpande), Anuja (Tere) and Suma (Shirur) might be fielded in 10m air rifle in Kuala Lumpur, which is the last of the chance for Indian shooters for grabbing an Olympic quota place," she said recalling that Deepali missed a quota place on a couple of occasions in the air pistol and sports rifle events.
