Seoul, Aug 14: A South Korean military helicopter crashed into a rice paddy today in the country's southeast, killing all seven people aboard, police said. The UH-1H helicopter went down shortly after taking off from a military base in Yongchon, 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, said Chung Ju-Yung, a policewoman in Yongchon.
Rescue teams recovered four bodies and sent them to a military hospital, Chung said by telephone. The other three bodies were entangled in the debris, she said.
The defense ministry had no immediate comment.
