Thiruvananthapuram, July 01: Kerala government has so far spent Rs 67.31 lakh on various relief measures after the recent monsoon spell in the state. Replying to a call attention motion in the subject, revenue minister K M Mani today informed the assembly that 121 houses were completely damaged and 885 houses got partially damaged in the heavy rains during last month causing a total loss of Rs 71 lakhs. Sixteen persons lost their lives and two were reported missing while government has set up 11 relief camps and distributed free ration materials to those living in the camps, he said. Steps were being taken to prevent sea erosion by putting sandbags by the revenue officials, he said.
