Colombo, Oct 24: LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran and a master of the Shotokan branch of karate have exchanged honours for their respective contributions to the art of unarmed combat, a pro-rebel website said today. Prabhakaran, 48, was given the black belt in the rebel-held town of Kilinochchi in northern Sri Lanka yesterday for "promoting the growth of the art of karate," the report said. He was presented the honour by leading karate instructor Bonnie Roberts, 74, who a short while earlier was honoured by Prabhakaran recognising him as the "father of karate in Tamil Eelam". Roberts, a member of the minority Tamil community, is a respected karate instructor throughout the island. Bureau Report
