officials quoting fishermen said today.
The Sri Lankan navalmen also damaged the fishing nets of
the fishermen and took into custody 13 fishermen after
tethering them together to a rope in an inhuman way. The
navalmen also seized the prawns and shrimps, they said.
The fishermen were later transported to the Mannar coast in Sri Lanka and cases were registered against them for crossing the international border.
Meanwhile, 28 out of the 32 fishermen who were taken into custody on November 29 by Sri Lanka, would be released today, officials said.
