New Delhi, Aug 26: Children's film festival "Film Fiesta", featuring several popular movies from India and abroad, was inaugurated today by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad here. "We need movies for children which are entertaining and are an honest attempt to educate young minds," he said and emphasised on the need to make more children movies.
Prasad said nearly 1,000 movies in 30 languages were being produced in the country annually but very few of these were for children.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Shabana Azmi said the government should encourage producers to make films for children by providing distribution facilities for release across the country.
The festival, which would conclude on September 10, will showcase popular movies like 'Makdee', 'Jajantaram Mamantaram' as well as international movies, including the Harry Potter series.
