New Delhi, Feb 15: Lok Janshakti Party president Ramvilas Paswan today said that he would contest from Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar and announced the party's nominees for six seats from Madhya Pradesh.
The party would launch its election campaign on February 25 with a rally in Bhind, Paswan told reporters.
Its allies, including the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led by Laloo Prasad Yadav, would decide the other constituencies of the LJP in Bihar, he said.
In Uttar Pradesh, the party would contest 10 seats which would be decided soon, he said.
In other states, the number of constituencies the LJP would contest depended on the Congress, which would lead the non-BJP secular front, Paswan said.
The party's six nominees for Madhya Pradesh are Phool Singh Baraiya (Bhind), Sukhlal Kushwah (Gwalior), Kankar Munjera (Balaghat), Juglal Kaul (Satna), Vimla Saundya (Rewa) and Bhavarsingh Gangwal (Ujjain).
Paswan clarified that he would not contest from two constituencies and that his party had no problem in supporting Laloo Yadav in any constituency, including Madhepura.
Turning down an offer from Janata Dal (United) leader George Fernandes for re-joining the NDA, he said ''we no longer have any truck with them.''
The party would also hold rallies at Satna (March 5), Gwalior (March 12), Rewa (March 22) and Balaghat (March 25).
At the press meet, Shakti Dal general secretary Kamar Alam joined the LJP along with his supporters.
