Los Angeles: "The Lost Boys" star Brooke Mccarter has died at the age of 52. The actor passed away earlier this week due to complications from genetic disorder Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, which affects the lungs and blood.

MCCarter began his career as a model and went on to star in his first feature film, "Thrashin", in 1986. In addition to "Thrashin" and "The Lost Boys", in which he played Paul, he also booked roles in "The Twilight Zone", "Route 66" and "Wired".


He subsequently turned his talents to music and served as a drummer and music programmer, and also began scoring independent feature films and documentaries.


MCCarter took a decade-long break from Hollywood to pursue a telecommunications career, but he returned to the movie industry with a role in 2009's "The Uh-Oh Show".
