Mumbai, May 04: Congress activists today burnt copies of leading Marathi weekly `Chitralekha` to protest against objectionable superimposed photograph of party president Sonia Gandhi and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani printed in the magazine. Raising slogans against magazine authorities outside the Congress office at Tilak Bhavan in Dadar, the activists objected to the photograph depicting "a holy alliance" between Gandhi and Advani with a caption "wah! kya scene hai".
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee`s president Ranjit Deshmukh told reporters "we have demanded an apology from magazine authorities and have also asked them to insert advertisement in all leading publication carrying an apology by the magazine."
Condemning the photograph, he said going by the rich value that the country cherishes, such a `superimposed` photograph was highly objectionable.
The PCC chief said the possible alliance between Congress and BJP did not ever arise and hence visualising such an alliance itself was incorrect.
