No brooking pressure in case of Mehndi brothers: Amarinder
Patiala, Oct 11: Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh today said that there that there was no question of brooking any pressure from any quarters with regard to the on-going investigations in the case of Mehndi brothers.
Patiala, Oct 11: Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh today said that there that there was no question of brooking any pressure from any quarters with regard to the on-going investigations in the case of Mehndi brothers.
Referring to the recent registration of case against Punjabi singer, Daler Mehndi, his brother Shamsher who is in police custody and three others, he said that the state government was adopting a tough posture in such cases.
He said that as a result of the pressure, the state was cracking down firstly on travel agents who were duping innocent youth on the pretext of promising them with overseas employment avenues, secondly, to curb exploitation of NRI brides and thirdly, to check female foeticide.
He said that Mehndi brothers were not an exception to the on-going crusade against the above mentioned maladies and pointed out all were equal before the law of land howsoever influential or big he may be.
Referring to the on-going investigations against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal by the state vigilance bureau, Singh said that " we would place all the investigations on record before the court with regard to the case of disproportionate assets and the blatant misuse of executive power during his tenure."
He dared Badal that if he was innocent then why he was making hue and cry, rather he should plead before the court through the evidence which he had to prove his innocence.
Asked when the charge sheet against Badal would be filed, Singh replied it would be filed by the end of October.
