Srinagar, Sept 19: In a move seen as a jolt to Ansari-led faction, the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) has invited Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of breakaway Hurriyat Conference, to attend a meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic countries in New York this month-end. In a communication to firebrand Jamaat-i-Islami leader, OIC functionary Abdul Ahad-al-Aziz addressed Geelani as chairman of the Hurriyat Conference and invited him for the meeting, sources close to Geelani said. The invitation to Geelani is considered a jolt to Ansari-led faction of the separatist alliance as Hurriyat enjoys status of an observer in the OIC. The 25-party conglomerate split when 13 general council members of the alliance moved a no confidence in Ansari and formed a parallel Hurriyat Conference on September 7. Bureau Report
