Kuala Lumpur, Feb 25: Malaysian deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has assured that the country's foreign policy would remain the same notwithstanding a change in leadership expected after October. "Although there will be a change in the leadership, the party and government policies will continue because we want to establish cooperation, especially among the developing countries, and we want to make a success of what we know as the south-south cooperation," he told reporters after receiving several leaders who visited here to attend the ongoing 13th Non-Aligned Movement (Nam) summit.
Abdullah said that leaders of different nations were optimistic that Malaysia's good ties with their respective countries would continue after he takes over following the retirement of current prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"They are happy because Malaysia's ties with their countries have been good. They respect Dr Mahathir Mohamad's leadership and hope that I will continue with the good efforts and expand bilateral ties in various fields that can help develop cooperation with Malaysia," he said. Bureau Report
