Mumbai, May 10: As part of reinventing its processes, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) plans to provide each member under EPF schemes with an unique "National Social Security Number (NSSN)". "EPFO has undertaken reinvention of the entire process of accounting, compliance and pension work, and providing a NSSN is a part of this initiative", Additional Central Provident Fun Commissioner, Maharashtra, Somesh Arora said in a release here.

The NSSN card can be utilised by the members for their settlement of the provident fund and pension from any of the offices throughout the country, he said.

Referring to the business process of re-engineering, he said kiosks would be opened in the provident fund offices as well as in some of the establishments or industries, where there was a concentration of employees.

"Once the business process of re-engineering is in place in the region concerned, the employers may file their returns and remit their dues electronically", Arora added.
