Mumbai, July 09: A special court today framed charges against the 1993 bomb blast accused Mustaffa Majnu and rejected his plea to stay its earlier order separating his trial from 123 co-accused including film actor Sanjay Dutt.
Designated judge P D Kode framed charges against Majnu Mustaffa, brother of prime absconding accused Mohammed Dossa, under Tada (P) Act.
He was charged with participating in the conspiracy to create a chain of bomb blasts in 1993. He was also accused of aiding and abetting the crime. The common charge of conspiracy framed against all the accused was modified earlier to include Majnu's name in the conspiracy. Majnu pleaded not guilty to the charges.
On July 4, the court had ordered CBI to conduct separate trial of Majnu and not to club his case with that of the 122 accused, including film actor Sanjay Dutt. However, the judge allowed CBI to use evidence already adduced against him. The court held that Majnu's trial was being separated as his name did not figure either in the list of accused or absconding accused but in a confession of co-accused Salim Mira Shaikh.
Majnu, brother of absconding accused Mohammed Dossa, was deported on March 20 from Dubai. CBI filed supplementary chargesheet against him on May 3.
Majnu is charged with sending his men to Dighi coast in Raigad district on January 9, 1993, for landing of arms and ammunition used in the serial explosions. Bureau Report
