Islamabad, Nov 13: The "brash statements" by a boastful Shoaib Akhtar has landed the fiery pacer in trouble as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has slapped him with a show-cause notice seeking an explanation to the comments he made in India recently.
During a visit to Mumbai for the Wisden cricket awards
ceremony, the "Rawalpindi Express" reportedly claimed that he
could become the Pakistan captain any day he wanted to.
PCB chief executive Rameez Raja said Shoaib has been given time till today to respond to the show-cause letter and if his reply was not found satisfactory, then the board would decide on its future course of action.
"Shoaib has given some brash statements in the Indian and Pakistani press in recent days in which he has made offensive comments which violate the code of conduct for players," Rameez was quoted as saying by the local daily 'The News'.
In India, the trouble-prone bowler had also pulled the PCB for not handling well his disciplinary hearing with match referee Clive Lloyd during the recent home series between Pakistan and South Africa.
Shoaib was found guilty of abusing South African batsman Paul Adams on the first day of the first test played in Lahore in October and Lloyd banned him for one test and two one-day internationals. Bureau Report
