Gorkha Liberation Organisation (GLO) chief Chhatre Subba, the prime accused in the recent attack on GNLF supremo Subash Ghisingh, was arrested by the special investigating team from a place near the Indo-Nepal border on Friday, official sources today said.
The sources said that Mr Subba was produced before a local court in Siliguri and remanded in police custody.
The police had been looking for Mr Subba for quite some time after the security forces busted a training camp inside a dense forest in Kalimpong sub-division in Darjeeling district.
Mr Subba, who reportedly masterminded the attack on Mr Ghisingh, was hiding in Nepal. The West Bengal government created pressure on the Nepalese government through the centre for the arrest of Mr Subba and the subsequent handover.
