New Delhi, July 11: The continued power crisis in the capital tended to take the course of a political row with the Delhi BJP today threatening to launch indefinite mass agitation if the situation was not rectified within a week as it accused the Sheila Dikshit government of undertaking power privatisation at the wrong time. BJP's in-charge of Delhi Madan Lal Khurana alleged that the water situation was also bad in the capital.
"We are giving a one-week ultimatum to the government to set things right after which a programme for the agitation will be announced," he told reporters here.
"It will not be an agitation of a day or two but indefinite. We will not allow the Sheila Dikshit government to sit with peace nor will we sit so till the situation is rectified," Khurana said, adding BJP will not "sit watching as the limit to patience had ended." The agitation will include fast for indefinite period and launching 'jail-bharo' andolan, he said.
He alleged that unlike the past practice, the Congress government had made no preparations for the summer season in advance and instead "tended to get rid of its responsibility by handing over distribution to private companies that too at the wrong time".
Terming the problem on the power as well as water as "unprecedented", the former Delhi Chief Minister said due to privatisation there was "lack of accountability and response to the people's grievances, which is causing more hardships to the citizens." Bureau Report
