Bangalore, May 26: The Indian Air Force has sought
help from the army to trace the missing MiG-27 fighter
aircraft in thick jungles, 60 kms from the IAF's air base in
Bagdogara, chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy
said today.
Efforts were on to trace the aircraft from the jungles in
the north east, where villagers "heard a big noise,"
Krishnaswamy told reporters here.
"The aircraft had taken off from Hashimara, about 110 kms
from Bagdogara on a training Sortee and while returning got
lost some where half-way," he said.
"We have heard some intimation from the public that they
heard a big noise near the jungle which is about 50 to 60 kms
from Bagdogara," Krishnaswamy said.
"We will not give up until we come to some conclusion... So we are finding various means," the Air Chief said, adding help is being sought from the public to trace the aircraft. Bureau Report
