Cement output up 5.3 per cent in October
New Delhi, Nov 16: Cement output rose 5.3 per cent to 9.34 million tonne in October, 2003 as against 8.87 million tonne (mt) in the year ago month.

Despatches recorded 3.31 per cent rise to 9.04 mt from
8.75 mt in the monthly review period, Cement Manufacturers'
Association said in its latest updates.
The production in October was 5.54 per cent higher than 8.85 mt recorded in the previous month while the last month's despatches were 1.01 per cent higher than 8.75 mt despatches recorded in September, 2003.
However, the cement output grew by 4.53 per cent to 66.04 mt in April-October 2003 as compared to 63.18 mt in the same period last year.
The despatches also increased by 4.18 per cent to 65.73 mt from 63.09 mt during the seven-month review period.
