Dehradun, Feb 15: The Uttaranchal unit of the Congress today symbolically observed ''rail roko andolan'' to protest against the judgement awarded in the Umesh Charan Gosai case for his involvement with the Uttarakhand movement. Talking to newspersons, state Congress president Harish Rawat said that the ‘rail roko andolan’ was just a symbolic one and also to convey to the Centre the feelings of the people in the state over this issue.
Gosai, a primary school teacher, was indicted by a Tehri fast track court to three years rigorous imprisonment along with a security bond of Rs 10,000 for his involvement in the Uttarakhand agitation.
Rawat said that all trains originating from various locations within the state were being held up for half an hour to a maximum of one hour.
Apart from this, all establishments in Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Haldwani, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Pauri and Tehri observed a peaceful bandh.

The party will announce its future course of action on this issue tomorrow, he added.
