Wagah, Sept 06: In a rare gesture, Bollywood star Urmilla Matondkar today presented a bouquet of flowers to Pakistani rangers on Zero Line at the joint checkpost on the Indo-Pak border here amidst tight security. Matondkar was here alongwith the director of the film "Pinjar" and Wagah checkpost was chosen as the venue for release of the music audio-cassette of the film.
Director of the film Chanderprakash Dwivedi and music director Uttam Singh were present on the occasion. A few shots of the film, scheduled for release on 10th October, were shown to mediapersons.
Dwivedi said "Pinjar", is the saga of human strength during trying times and its story is based on a novel by veteran writer Amrita Pritam.
"The film is a metaphorical representation of partition and depicts the story of division of lives seen and experienced by a young woman," he said.
"During the shooting of the film I personally realised the pain and plight of hundreds of women who were rendered homeless and were humiliated during partition and... No one came forward to speak about them save some contemporary poets like Waris Shah," Matondkar said.
The film dwelt on a woman who becomes a victim of circumstances during partition and how she overcomes the wrath of hostile communities and manages to rewrite her destiny in the milieu of changing relationship of nations, communities and individuals, the popular actress said.
