Altogether 123 accused, including film star Sanjay Dutt, will put up their defence in the 1993 bomb blast trial which has concluded after six years in a TADA court in Mumbai. Designated judge P D Kode on Thursday asked defence lawyers to put forth their arguments in response to CBI's submission on the role played by the accused in the conspiracy leading to serial explosions in the metropolis which killed more than 200 people and injured several others. Defence lawyer Majeed Memon would open arguments on Friday. He is expected to dwell upon the legality of evidence tendered by the two approvers in this case.

He would submit arguments on the alleged conspiracy, motive of the serial blasts and touch upon individual and collective role allegedly played by the accused.
Memon informed the court that he would also go into the political backdrop in which these blasts were engineered and focus on communal disharmony and role of police as spelt out in Srikrishna Commission. CBI concluded its arguments on Wednesday by filing written submissions running into nearly 900 pages. Prosecutors Ujjwal Nikam and N Natrajan have implicated all the 123 accused in the conspiracy enumerating a detailed account of how the blasts were planned and executed at the instance of Dawood Ibrahim and his men, Tiger Memon and Mohammed Dossa. CBI has also implicated all accused persons in the alleged conspiracy.
