New Delhi, Oct 20: A high-level delegation led by Rural Development Minister Kashiram Rana is leaving for Bangladesh on Monday to attend a three-day ministerial-level regional conference on sanitation beginning at Dhaka tomorrow.
The objective of the conference is to accelerate the progress of sanitation and hygiene work in South Asia so as to enhance the quality of life, fulfil the millennium development goals and the commitments made in the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesberg, official sources said.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka besides India are participating in the conference with the objective to promote a regional initiative to improve the situation.
