Los Angeles, Mar 13: Telecommunications major Motorola on Friday said a judge has dismissed a lawsuit that alleged that faulty Motorola equipment contributed to the deaths of 12 firefighters at the World Trade Center in New York on Sept. 11, 2001. In an annual report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Motorola said the suit was dismissed on Wednesday by the federal court in southern New York where it was filed last December.

Motorola said the court dismissed the complaint on the grounds that the plaintiffs have filed claims with the September 11th Victims' Compensation Fund, thereby waiving their right to sue. The suit, which sought more than $5 billion in damages, originally named New York City as a defendant. Motorola was added to the suit in late January. Bureau Report
