London, Sept 30: Singer Justin Timberlake, the subject of millions of teenage fantasies around the world, looks on course to cap a memorable year after garnering five nominations on Monday for the MTV Europe Awards. The US pin-up, whose "Cry Me a River" was hailed as one of the best pop videos of the year, is on the short list for a clutch of awards at this year's ceremony in Edinburgh on November 6. It will be hosted by Christina Aguilera, who has been headlining with Timberlake in what promoters billed as "the sexiest tour of the year."
The raunchy singer has landed four nominations herself, the same number as back-to-basics rock band The White Stripes.

Robbie Williams, awarded the biggest recording contract in the history of the British music industry but still trying to make it big in the United States, has three nominations from the pop music channel.

He has already landed a place in Guinness World Records for being the most successful artist in the history of the UK industry's Brit Awards -- he currently holds 14 of them.

New York rapper 50 Cent, who last week landed three MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards in London, is in the running for three MTV awards.

Male pop fans will have plenty to cheer in Edinburgh as two of the industry's sexiest performers -- Beyonce and Kylie Minogue -- perform live.

At this year's Brit Awards in London, Minogue performed a memorable duet with Timberlake who was even able to deliver a playful pat on the most photographed posterior in pop.

That, however, was nothing compared to the media sensation whipped up last month at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, when Timberlake's former girlfriend, Britney Spears, shared an open-mouthed kiss with Madonna.
Timberlake will soon be seen on screens around the world in McDonald's Corp adverts to try to give fast food more street cred, industry officials said.
