Chennai, July 26: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today said he would again move the court seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu government to allow formation of an association for subordinate police personnel in the state, if the government did not do so by August 15.

In a statement here, Swamy, whose PIL on the issue was recently disposed of by the madras high court with a direction to approach the state government, said the director general of police had rejected his suggestion for such an association. Swamy said if chief minister J Jayalalithaa failed to overrule the DGP's decision by August 15, he would move the court again.

The court had told Swamy and two other petitioners to return to the court if permission was denied.

The state government in a letter to Swamy, had rejected his demand for formation of such an association, saying opportunities were being provided to lower ranked personnel of the state police to get their grievances redressed. Bureau Report
