McGrath to undergo left ankle surgery
Cairns (Australia), Aug 01: Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath will undergo surgery to remove bone chips from his left ankle, team officials said today.
Cairns (Australia), Aug 01: Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath will undergo surgery to remove bone chips from his left ankle, team officials said today.
McGrath was expected to be released from hospital tomorrow before beginning rehabilitation work under the supervision of Australian team physiotherapist Errol Alcott.
Cricket Australia medical officer Dr Trefor James said the surgery would hopefully fix an injury, which has caused McGrath discomfort for much of his international career.
"Glenn's ankle has been a problem area for a period of time, but over the years we have been able to monitor and control the injury without the need for surgery," James said today. "However, it has now reached a point where the specialist believes the most appropriate course of action for Glenn is surgery and hopefully that means dealing with the problem once and for all," he said.
