Sri Krishna - the ultimate epitome of love and divinity has millions of devotees across the globe. His admirers address him as Kanha, Kanhaiya, Gopal, Dwarakadeesh, Banke Bihari and by several other names. His birthplace – Mathura or Krishna Janmabhoomi has a number of temples dedicated to him. And one such temple is that of the Banke Bihari in Vrindavan.

In the article, we would like to talk about the Banke Bihari temple established by Swami Haridas in 1864.


Swami Haridas had once dreamt of Banke Bihari. The Lord made his presence felt in Nidhivan along with Radha. Swami Haridas used to sing Bhajans dedicated to the Lord and had initiated the tradition of building a bungalow made of flowers within the temple premises. And the custom is still followed today.
