Sanaa, Yemen July 30: A bomb went off in an area close to the US Embassy in Sanaa last night eyewitnesses said.
No casualties were reported in the bombing, which caused no damage to the Embassy. Witnesses said the bomb went off in a street in a residential area near the Embassy, shattering windows of nearby houses.
Police officials refused to comment on the explosion, which took place around 11:30 pm (2030 gmt). Police sealed off the area around the Embassy and searched vehicles, witnesses said. The Embassy on Saturday urged Americans living in Yemen to be extra vigilant and keep low profile. The warning followed a German court decision last week allowing extradition of two Yemeni terror suspects to the United States. Sheikh Mohammad Ali Hassan al-Moayyad, a prominent cleric, and his assistant, Mohammed Mussien Ziad, were arrested at a Frankfurt hotel on January 10 on a US warrant.

The United States accused al-Moayyad of financing Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda organisation and the Palestinian Hamas movement.
