Chennai, July 19: Two wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor has recorded a 20 per cent increase in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 32.08 crore in the quarter ended on June 30 last, as against Rs 26.78 crore in the same period last year. Announcing the quarterly results here on Friday, Venu Srinivasan, chairman and managing director of the company, said that the total sales during the quarter stood at Rs 671.05 crore, which was up by six per cent, compared to Rs 632.16 crore achieved during the same period last year.
He said the better performance had largely been on account of the improved quality of the product portfolio and strong offtake of motorcycles, which stood at 1.79 lakh units for the quarter as against 1.63 units in the same quarter last year.

Srinivasan said that the 110 cc TVS Victor's sales graph was continuing its upward spiral and had notched up sales in excess of 5.70 lakh units, with increased penetration in the northern and western markets.
However, the sales performances were below that of the industry as a whole, he said, adding that the growth of TVS in the two-wheeler segment was was 3.1 per cent, as against 4.7 per cent registered by the industry. Bureau Report
