Chandigarh, Apr 20: Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall while plains of Punjab and Haryana were lashed by rains since yesterday, a Meteorological Department official said here today. Dhundi was covered by a white blanket after it received ten cm of snowfall till this morning, the official told.
Patsio also received good amount of snow at 23 cm, the official said, adding Manali area was lashed by 34 mm of rain.
Chandigarh and its adjoining areas of Panchkula and Mohali received rain and hail yesterday.
Reports reaching here from various places in Punjab and Haryana said that yesterday's heavy downpour has partially damaged the wheat crop.
Reports of rain since yesterday were also received from places including Ambala, Yamunanagar and Narnaul in Haryana; Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar and Nangal dam area in Punjab; Shimla, Sundernagar, Nahan, Solang Nullah and Dharamsala in Himachal.
The Met department has forecast light to moderate rain or snow likely at few places in H.P., some showers at isolated places in Punjab while mainly dry weather has been forecast over the next two days for most of Haryana.
