New York, June 27: The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their North American tour with 13 new dates, beginning Sept. 6 in Washington, DC. Several more shows will be added at a later date, with the trek expected to run well into November. Queens Of The Stone Age and French Toast will support on all shows.

The Chili Peppers are touring in support of their latest Warner Bros. album, "By the Way," which has sold 1.7 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group's latest single, "Dosed," is No. 14 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks airplay chart this week.
In a posting on the band's official Web site (http://www.redhotchilipeppers.com), bassist Flea revealed that the Chili Peppers will take two weeks off, then write and record two or three new songs for an upcoming greatest hits collection. The album is expected to collect material from the group's Warner Bros. releases, beginning with 1991's 4 million-selling "Blood Sugar Sex Magik."
The Peppers will return to the road in August for a handful of European festival and headlining appearances, beginning Aug. 13 in Stuttgart, Germany.
