Craftsmen, artisans and engineers pay ode to Vishwakarma by worshipping him and thanking him for the skills they have been blessed with.

It is indeed a day of reverence. Devotees seek blessings and wish to remain skilful throughout their lives to earn their livelihood without being dependant on anyone. Skills alone make a person self-sufficient and self-reliant. And hence, by honouring Lord Vishwakarma, people pay tribute to their skills that help them earn their living.

The Rig Veda has a reference to Vishwakarma as the abstract form of the creator – God.

He is credited to have built Shri Krishna’s Dwaraka in the Dwapar Yuga, Ravana’s golden Lanka (which originally belong to Lord Shiva) in the Treta Yuga and the Swarga in Sata Yuga.

Here’s wishing one and all a very Happy Vishwakarma Puja.
