New Delhi, Mar 31: Delhi government has declined to extend its deadline expiring at midnight today for carrying a computerised Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC)having the photograph of the number plate of the vehicle despite long queues of people being seen at the petrol stations. “Just for the sake of two or three days of inconvenience, government would not modify its order”, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said while celebrating her 65th birthday with the mediapersons here. In a bid to make pollution control laws more stringent, the Delhi government has directed the drivers to carry a “proper and valid” computerised PUC certificate having the photograph of the number plate of the vehicle from tomorrow and failing to do so, the drivers will be challaned with Rs 1000 for first and Rs 2000 for subsequent offence(s).
