New Delhi, June 24: Having commissioned the first
ship of its latest batch of stealth frigates, INS Talwar
barely a week ago, Indian Navy today inducted the second ship
of this class at St Petersburg, Russia.
The ship, named INS Trishul was commissioned by vice
Admiral Arun Prakash, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief,
Western Naval Command.
The ship's crew have been involved in all
pre-commissioning trials, including the proving of her
machinery and weapon systems. It is only with successful
completion of these trials that the ship has been declared to
be ready for commissioning, a Naval spokesman said here.
INS Trishul will show the Indian tri-colour in various
European and African nations during her maiden passage and
would go round the cape of good hope before finally arriving
at her base port, namely Mumbai, where she will join the
western fleet.
