Bhopal, Nov 20: Expressing concern over anti-Bihari violence in Assam, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today asked all political parties to observe restraint while and promised to initiate necessary measures for restoration of normalcy. "Incidents taking place in Assam are a matter of grave concern and we are in constant contact with both Assam and Bihar governments on the matter," he told reporters here.

Advani said that Minister of State for Home Chinmayanand had been deputed to Assam for reviewing and assessing the situation in the state where several Biharis have been killed over the past few days.

Stating that the Centre would do everything to bring back normalcy, the Deputy Prime Minister said he had spoken to Assam Governor Lt Gen Ajai Singh as also Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi over the issue.
Asked whether he had indicated central intervention after attacks on trains in Bihar, Advani said he had stated that Centre cannot be a passive spectator of such incidents.

He said whenever such violence takes place, all organisations and political parties must observe utmost restraint.
