Shillong, Apr 01: Air services to Meghalaya would resume after a gap of five years from Friday, a senior government official said today. A 50-seater ATR aircraft would land at the Umroi airport, about 25 km from here in presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang and his other cabinet colleagues, state's transport secretary B Purakayastha told a news agency here. The inaugural flight, which would come from Kolkata via Guwahati, would fly back to Kolkata, Purakayastha said, the airport, which was closed for five years, has been revived to make it fit for an ATR aircraft.
