Bangalore, Nov 19: Janata Party president Subramanian
Swamy today said he was ready to work as deemed public
prosecutor in the trial of disproportionate assets case
against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Karnataka.
"I am ready to come and handle the case because I know
everything about the case," he told reporters here replying to
queries on the transfer of two cases by the Supreme Court to
Karnataka.
He said there was a provision for the court to designate the complainant as the prosecutor.
Swamy said Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, whom he described as his "good friend" though they were politically apart, could in consultation with the chief justice appoint him as the public prosecutor.
The apex court had yesterday allowed the petitions filed by DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan and the impleading application by Swamy praying for a direction to transfer the cases to a court outside Tamil Nadu to ensure a free and fair trial.
Asked about Jayalalithaa's move for a third front minus BJP and Congress, he said "she has to change her political culture".
