Chennai, Oct 14: DMK president M Karunanidhi today ridiculed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's criticism of DMK over the Cauvery issue, saying it had become a routine practice for her to attack his party on the issue. Reacting to Jayalalithaa's remarks at a government function at Nagapattinam yesterday, where she had said that the DMK had done precious little to get Cauvery water, he told reporters here that it was her 'usual refrain' and she could not desist from it.

"Should the opposition go and bring Cauvery water when they (AIADMK) are in power?" he countered.

To a question on the 'omission' of names of DMK MPs and MLAs in invitations for government functions, he said in a rather sarcastic tone, that 'appearance of one's name in an invitation meant danger to the invitee at the stage, as borne out by yesterday's incident in Karaikal, when Congress MP, Mani Shankar Iyer, was attacked, allegedly by AIADMK men.
Asked whether any agitation was being contemplated against the AIADMK government, he recalled the December 1"jail bharo" stir already announced by the party.
