Ahmedabad, Oct 11: Forensic science laboratory (FSL) officials, including its director J M Vyas, will appear next week before the two-member judicial commission probing the February 27 Godhra railway station carnage, commission sources said. Sources told that FSL officials and a few police personnel from Godhra "would come for hearing" before justice K G Shah and justice G T Nanavati on October 16.
The testimony from FSL is expected to provide interesting clues to the investigations as the team had earlier in its report said it was possible that the inflammable items were stored in the S-6 coach, that was later set aflame, killing 59 ramsevaks. In their report, which sought to give a new dimension to Godhra investigations, FSL officials had said that it was not possible to pour kerosene and other inflammable articles from outside and torch the bogie simultaneously.
Sources said the then SP, Panchmahal district, Raju Bhargava appeared before the commission on October nine and made a written submission.
In his submission, according to police sources, Bhargava stood by his statements made to media on February 27 and after, that the district police was not informed about karsevaks movement on that day. Bhargava is also said to have confirmed at least three cases of rape during the post-Godhra riots.
Commission sources, however, declined to either deny or confirm the submissions made by Bhargava.
"Whatever he said is the property of the commission and is confidential," the sources said. Bureau Report
