Kolkata, July 17: An opposition Trinamool Congress member in the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday demanded that the Centre initiate action against agitators who disrupted railway services at Hajipur to protest the reconsideration of the Centre`s decision on bifurcation of Eastern Railway. The Trinamool Congress member, Sougata Roy told the house that while his party had observed a token and peaceful rail blockade for 15 minutes only on July 13 against the bifurcation, demonstrators at Hajipur on Monday had badly hit movement of trains. The demonstration had affected the security and safety of railway passengers he said adding that the Centre should take steps.

Train services came to a standstill in north Bihar on Monday following a 12-hour `Hajipur bandh` called by BJP Vaishali unit to protest Trinamool Congress` opposition to the creation of an East Central Railway Zone by bifurcating Eastern Railway. Bureau Report
