Union labour minister and Janta Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav on Sudnay said that he favoured a BSP-BJP tie-up for formation of a government in Uttar Pradesh and that the alliance with BSP be extended to the NDA. “We have always favoured a tie-up with BSP and the NDA would be strengthened by the party's induction,” Yadav told reporters after a meeting with party workers. Stating that the verdict in the state was for a coalition government, he said that a common-minimum programme should be made so that the government could last its full term. Referring to the recent assembly election in the state, he said that his party's performance at the polls was not satisfactory.
He called for introspection and review of policies to boost the party's morale.
