Balasore, June 25: India's sophisticated short range surface-to-air missile Trishul was test-fired once again from the integrated test range (ITR) at Chandipur, about 15 km from here, today, defence sources said. The missile was test-flown at around 1.45 pm.
This is the fourth consecutive day on which the missile had been test-fired mostly to gauge its accuracy and other parameters, the sources said.
The solidfuel-propelled missile was fired from a mobile launcher after a microlight unmanned aircraft was flown as the target.
Indigenously developed by the scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the missile had a triple battlefield role for the army, air force and navy.
It has a range of 500 metres to nine km with the capacity to carry a 15 kg payload.
The three metre long missile with a 200 cm diametre, which flew at supersonic speed, formed part of India's guided missile development programme. Bureau Report
