Srinagar, Dec 31: A local court today issued fresh summons to the Uttar Pradesh BJP president Vinay Katiyar to appear before it on January 18, in connection with the Hazratbal relic case pending before it for the last ten months.
Srinagar principal district judge, Hakeem Imtiyaz directed for issuance of the fresh summons as the accused failed to appear before the court today. The summons is be sent through speed-post to the accused in accordance with the provisions of criminal penal code, the judge said.
The court had earlier issued summons to Katiyar taking cognizance of the two complaints filed by the Kashmir Bar Association and a journalist Imadad Saqi, on March 16, alleging that the BJP leader had made some objectionable remarks against the holy relic enshrined in Hazratbal shrine here.
