New Delhi, Feb 07: The two Kashmiris arrested on charges of receiving money from a senior Pakistani High Commission official for funding terrorist activities in India will be produced before a Pota court today.

They are being interrogated and would be produced before Pota court today. In connection with this incident the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is expected to give a statement today, who had declined to elaborate on the issue on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Ashok Chand said that Anzum Zabru Habib was arrested near Nehru Park in Chanakaya Puri, South Delhi, while she was returning from the Pakistani High Commission. On her personal search Rs 3.07 lakh was recovered. During interrogation she disclosed that she received the money from Deputy High Commissioner Jalil Abbas Geelani, and added that money was also given to Hurriyat spokesman Shabir Ahmad Dar.

Police arrested Dar from his office in Malviya Nagar where he was running a Kashmir Awareness Bureau. Rs two lakh was recovered from him.

Joint Commissioner Neeraj Kumar told reporters that the money was given to the two to be passed on to Kashmiri separatist leader Abdul Ghani Bhat. Neeraj Kumar said Bhat had sent the two yesterday to collect money and bring it to Srinagar.

The two have been booked under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota) for funding terrorist activities and waging a war against the country.

The arrest of the two was made this afternoon on the basis of inputs provided by various intelligence agencies suggesting that funds to terrorist outfits in India could be routed through the Pakistani High Commission.

The case has brought to light the active involvement of senior Pakistani High Commission officials in funding various militant activities in India. Police did not rule out the presence of a few more Kashmiris in the capital who may be working for various terrorist outfits to fund militant operations in India.
