Congress volunteers stage road `roko` agitation
Pondicherry, Aug 15: Pondicherry Pradesh Congress leader V Narayanasamy and former legislator V Balaji were among the 33 ruling Congress volunteers who staged a road `roko` agitation on Pakkamodayanpet Lawspet main road today.

agitation on Pakkamodayanpet Lawspet main road today.
The police also arrested a 47-member group of BJP volunteers including party legislator A M Krishnamoorthy and state BJP prsident R Kesavalu and Hindu Munnani president V Selvam who also staged a ‘dharna’ almost close to the Congress agitators on the main road.
The whole trouble arose when a group of Congress members reportedly rushed to BJP acativist Karthikeyan's house to register their protest against his statements against Sonia Gandhi in a section of the press for the last two days.The Congressmen allegedly intimidated Karthikeyan, police sources said.
The BJP members who rushed to the site staged a road ‘roko’ and raised slogans against the Congress. Tense situation prevailed for nearly 40 minutes. Police intervened and arrested 33 Congress volunteers and 47 BJP members (including five women) and took them to a nearby police station.
However, all the arrested were subsequently released.
