New Delhi, Apr 04: The BJP on Sunday sought to put records straight on issues like construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya and Common Civil Code saying they continued to be part of its vision but were not on its poll plank as development was the issue on which NDA was seeking to return to power.
"There has been no change in our vision. We believe a Ram temple should be built at the birth place of Lord Ram in Ayodhya... Hindutava forms core of our philosophy as it is a way of leading life but it is not a poll issue," BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.

On Uniform Civil Code, he said, "It was part of the constitution and we would proceed on it by building a broad consensus."
He, however, did not comment on scrapping of Article 370 that accorded special status to Kashmir.

"The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will release its agenda for governance on April 8. It will spell out what the (NDA) government, if voted to power again, will do," he said.

"The NDA manifesto will spell out governance issue and we (BJP) will continue (to pursue) Ayodhya and Common Civil Code," he said.
Asked why the two issues did not figure prominently in the BJP's election campaign, Naidu said, "Earlier you people used to say that BJP has only one agenda--Hindutva. Today we are talking about development and making India a super power and you are asking why are you not talking of Hindutva."

He said development, leadership and good governance will be BJP's poll issues in the April-May general elections. Bureau Report
