Srinagar, July 24: In a major administrative reshuffle, Jammu and Kashmir government today transferred 18 Indian Administrative Service and 45 state administration service officials. Principal secretary to the government, general administration, N R Gupta, has been made commissioner inquiries, a post which has been upgraded as equivalent to IAS cadre, an official spokesman told news agencies.


Amit Kushari, principal secretary, higher and technical education department, has been transferred as principal secretary, transport, in place of A S Sidhu, who has been made chairman of bureau of public enterprises.

G D Wadhwa has been made principal secretary, social welfare, in place of S L Bhat who has been moved to general administration.

Deputy commissioners of Baramulla and Kupwara and Additional Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Udhampur, Pulwama, Kupwara and Baramulla have also been transferred.

Dhreeraj Gupta is the new deputy commissioner baramulla. He replaces N K Chowdhary who has been made vice chairman of Jammu Development Authority. The post has been declared equivalent to IAS cadre post of deputy commissioner.

Abdul Lmajid Khanday has been made Deputy Commissioner Kupwara replacing Yedullah who has been made special secretary, rural development department.
Director of Information K B Jandial will function as special secretary, information department in addition to his own duties.

The transfers were announced after a meeting of the cabinet which met for the second consecutive day.
